As the eyes of the fashion world turn to London with LFW kicking off today our minds and our belly’s turn to the ever growing list of collabs between fashion 🪡and food 🥘 There has long been a relationship between the two but last year saw things really hotting 🥵 up from high street hook ups to high fashion flirtations, but what as driven them together at such a rapid rate? Partly due to our shifting mindset and attitude to food and drink 🥤 , as it becomes increasingly important in our ever curated lifestyles, and part, perhaps as we all become more aware of that we consume- it is the brands which stand for something and those who stand out who grab our attention. Last year Gen Z allocated more of their wallet 💷 (40%) to food and drink – more than anything else Fashion and food tie ups spark conversation – look👀 no further than last years @burberry x @normanscafelondon collab or the likes of @ysl x @santambroeus gelato 🍨 cart, @nandosuk clothing range or @apc_paris olive 🫒 oils, all leading brands with a distinct aesthetic leaning into other fields. How fun is this?! We were so impressed and inspired by learning about the amazing and lasting approach to sustainable hospitality @goodhotel.co a company quietly making real change to so many lives of their local communities. 🙌 Born out of the desire to generate a sustainable income and quality jobs for graduates of @ninosdeguatemala (another project from Marten Dresen) by harnessing the potential of hospitality. Creating a truly social business Launching in 2013 the Good Training piloted in a 2⭐️ restaurant in Amsterdam built on a principle of training local residents out of unemployment into a career in hospitality. Maybe due to us all tightening out belts and many of us returning to our post 😷 ways of going out to celebrate by eating out. Delivery orders in the 🇬🇧 are down 12% on previous years- for many the non cooked at home 🍽️ is about more than just not cooking it’s about the surrounding experience. A handful of to go and 🥡 spots are shifting their model from 👻kitchens to spaces which provide an experience (in a beautiful surrounding) @nakano.alicante welcomes guest with a long tunnel to collect orders designed by @pablomunozpayaarquitectos offering more opportunity to connect with guests @kaielahondarribia has reinvented the the take away (en)counter designed by @enean_arkitektura making use of large windows and natural materials reflecting the homemade nature of their food. @ichi_station Milan has shifted to a hybrid model with takeaway and dine in with a salmon pink space designed by @masquespacio_ana There is little doubt that the shift towards creating more an experience around the take away or to go market enables brands to connect with their audience, communicate their values and provide hospitality even in short encounters. It’s world Emoji day…… yes there is such a thing. Now if we were feeling very brave we would attempt to ✍️ this all in p🖼️ but it would just take too long and be too 😤! Modern emoji’s started their live back in 1999 as a project by 🇯🇵 telecoms company looking to develop a 🌍 language. Created by artist Shigetaka Kurita inspired by the emoticons in early chat rooms :-) anyone??? 😉 The original collection of 176 emoji’s covered themes including 🌤️🚗💻 and or course 😃☹️. Although widely adopted in Japan it wasn’t until 2010 that they made their way on to 📱 around the 🗺️. By 2015 they had taken on a life of their own with 😂 being named at Word of the Year by Oxford Dictionary.
